Antibiotic-resistant bacteria and novel therapeutic options were discussed at the recent international online conference on Infectious Diseases in a One Health context. Organized by the One Health Institute of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, the Institute of Metagenomics of the University of Debrecen, the Veterinary Medical Research Institute and the Centre for Ecological Research of the Hungarian Research Network, the objective of the event was to promote discussion and knowledge exchange.

DOTE Foundation for Pediatric Surgery will use the donations collected at the so-called wardrobe fairs held earlier this year to purchase medical equipment. The amount of the donation, worth HUF 150,000, was handed over by representatives of the organizers, Debrecen Reformed University Congregation and the University of Debrecen Talent Development Program (Debreceni Egyetem Tehetséggondozó Program -DETEP) at a “house-party” ceremony held in the Pediatric Surgery Pavilion on Monday.

In their latest research, they have identified a new mechanism that has a role in childhood obesity. Their findings could help in the prevention and early detection of childhood obesity and the development of new drug therapies.
Representatives of the University of Debrecen and Mansoura University (Egypt) have signed an agreement in the field of agricultural education programs. The Károly Ihrig Doctoral School of Management and Business of the University of Debrecen has held an international conference of PhD students, sponsored by the university’s Faculty of Economics and Hungary’s Central Bank. Hungarian and foreign students delivered presentations in ten sessions. Gergely Baksay, Managing Director responsible for economic and budget analysis of the Central Bank gave a plenary presentation. The programme included a round table discussion too.
Researchers at the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Agriculture, Food Science and Environmental Management and the UD Agricultural Research Institutes and Agricultural Economics are working on the monitoring of agricultural and hydrological drought trends and the development of a monitoring and forecasting system. The results could help develop effective drought mitigation plans. Details of the research have been published in the prestigious scientific journal Computers and Electronics in Agriculture.
