Research in the field of nutritional science is of increasing importance in the prevention of obesity, diabetes and digestive and vascular diseases. Its relation to food quality is a growing part of the world's research in this field. The physiological effects of food, with particular emphasis on clynically exploitable changes in effects. Particular attention will be given to the nutrition therapeutics chapters that exist alongside the drug and food categories, some of which will cover these specific therapeutics, drug-food interactions, and nutritional aspects of specific disease states. The Doctoral Program in Food Science
aims to provide the opportunity to obtain a doctoral degree (PhD) in the following areas
- food chemistry and biochemistry of the food chain
- food safety, food quality assurance, quality characterisation and quality preservation
- food biotechnology and technology
Food Science and Engineering research is becoming increasingly important today, as food safety, food and raw material quality, and the application of novel methods and processes in the food chain create new challenges in this discipline.
