It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the renewed website of the Doctoral School of Food Sciences at the University of Debrecen.
Our Doctoral School addresses the complex challenges of modern food science through the coordinated and complementary research areas of multiple disciplines. The core philosophy of our research activity follows the ”farm-to-table” approach. Our objective is to develop cutting-edge methods and innovative technologies that provide effective solutions to the latest demands in food production, food safety, and quality assurance.
The Doctoral School offers the opportunity to obtain a PhD degree in the following key areas:
· Chemistry, biochemistry, and biotechnology of food raw materials and food products;
· Food safety and quality assurance;
· Assessment of agro-ecological impacts and risks affecting the nutritional chain.
Our research program spans from basic research to applied sciences, with a particular focus on the principles of the circular economy, including the sustainable recycling of by-products and waste. Throughout the program, we place great emphasis on interdisciplinary knowledge, providing our students with a comprehensive perspective to tackle the scientific challenges of the future.
PhD students studying with us can rely on the extensive academic background and the modern, flexible training structure of the University of Debrecen. Our system of elective courses ensures high-level professional development tailored to individual research interests.
Our goal is to collectively advance our fields of expertise through this program for our professional development, the benefit of the University, and the public good. We trust that our website will pique your interest, and we look forward to welcoming you as one of our doctoral candidates.
